A SNEAK PREVIEW OF

A new print created for the Cultural History team who curate amazing exhibitions that I have been lucky enough to exhibit my art work for Batty Bass, at Selfridge's and in Shang Hai.
They have organised a cultural advent art work extravaganza calender that the artists have created new limited edition prints for.
My calender day is 'OLD SCHOOL, NEW SCHOOL, on the 6th of December - check out the text below.
Bah! Humbug!
Our History and Austin Gallery
119 Bethnal Green
London
E2 7DG
In addition to the ongoing December BAG! HUMBUG! exhibition and emporium, there has been a calendar of unique and exciting events organised to run with the exhibition.
Each event has been specifically themed to best suit each artists work, and help create an exciting viewing experience for enthusiasts. These specified events will encourage and maximise sales within the emporium.
The first of these events is "OLD SCHOOL NEW SCHOOL", to be run on Sunday 6th December.
Old school graphics from 1988 onwards will be shown alongside the newest London based up and coming graphic designers.

NEW EXHIBITION - 12TH NOVEMBER AT DALSTON SUPERSTORE - AMAZING ARTISTS, COME TO THE OPENING!

NOUVEAU NUDE
THE MALE NUDE NOW
Opening Night: Thursday 12th November, 6.30 -10.00
Exhibition: Thursday 12th November - Sunday 6th December
Dalston Super Store, 117 Kingsland High St, E8 2PB

Contributers: Exterface, Mikel Marton, Cathal O’brien, Matthew Brindle, Justino Esteves, Elizabeth Eamer, Theo Firmo, Emma Gibson, Anna Kriskova, Anna Stubbe, Echo Morgan, Alex Noble, Moses Powers, Ed Relph, Jens Stoltze.
Contributing Magazines + Fanzines: BUTT, PinUps, Spunk, Anal, Flit.
Light and Illustration installation: Prick Image and Alex Noble

This exhibition seeks to celebrate and explore the male nude, celebrating those who examine, muse and obsess over this controversial subject.

Exhibiting work from a new generation of home grown and international artists: from Paris duo Exterface intensely stylized nude narratives to Canada’s Mikel Marton, who’s male nude portraits are winning critical acclaim across America and around the world.
Alongside photography, mixed media work and 3D installation will be covers from ground breaking Butt magazine and fanzines including New York’s PinUps and Spunk.  Aiding the review of the Male Nude’s place in a commercial and subcultural context.

Male nudity has always been more subversive than it’s female counterpart, falling in and out of popularity through out art history, but always celebrated and developed by the gay and erotic arts.

The ‘gaze’ has shifted from being predominantly on women to men in fashion, film and advertising, and within the last decade the increasing trend for homo eroticism and full frontal male nudity begs the question, what is the place of the male nude in contemporary society? And will it ever develop and evolve into being as common place as a pair of breasts in a newspaper?

As it takes more and more to shock us, what now is the reaction towards the male nude,
and can the more untraditional images and growing trend for alternative visions of beauty be viewed in their own right with out being labelled homo erotic, classicist or pornographic.

LADY GA GA MUSIC VIDEO

Here are the pieces that were commissioned for Lady Ga Ga's new music video! I've heard one of the pieces made the cut in a very big way so really excited about seeing the final edit!

RECENT ACTIVITIES

I'm working on a huge painting commission for a big commercial project at the moment, it's completely taken over the studio and it's a bit of a roller coaster ride of abstract colour! Easy to get lost in positively and frustratingly! Thought I'd post the progress as soon they will be complete and traveling to far away shores!

A very messy state of affairs!!

ME IN VOGUE HOMME JAPAN

For the 3rd issue VHJ interviewed four designers who work mainly to the DIY mentality of using a variety of materials from the street, lost and found, presented and stolen, bones, buttons and all the rest. I was one of two of the London designers that they interviewed.
WE LOVE YOU VHJ!

VOGUE HOMME JAPAN

For Vogue Homme Japans 3rd issue I was commissioned to make some peculiar and erotic pieces, styled by Nicola Formichetti and shot by Steven Klein.........what a treat!

FRONT COVER FOR WOUND MAG

This is my illustration for Wound magazines architecture cover, the image is inspired by the Prada Transformer building in korea. The building is a multi functional living organism that evolves into different shapes, rotating and turning onto different sides for different uses, a gallery, cinema, catwalk and more. True genius!

NEW ART WORK

This is an unfinished section of a new piece of work, originally titled 'David Loves David' but is now called 'Original Sin', up now at Dalston Super Store.
This piece was up at the last exhibition at Dalston SS and is titled 'The Hand Maids Tale', and is a dark view of the future, where man kind has done so damage to them selves and the earth that the human reprodructive system is failing to produce enough eggs and sperm for procreation. Therefore a huge market has emerged for homosexual sperm and eggs, to give heterosexual partners the opportunity to conceive. Would you 'Pay For Gay?'
Title: Urban Jungle

Mural for Dalston Super Store, a kind of retro, electro, drippy spectrum thing.
